The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles was treated to a double dose of rock ‘n’ roll when Melissa Etheridge and Pat Benatar stopped on their double-billed “We Live For Love” tour. Melissa Etheridge kicked the night off with her varied set of hits including “Angels Would Fall” and “If I Wanted To.” Fans even got to hear a song off of her upcoming album due out this October, an Albert King cover of “Born Under a Bad Sign,” which showed the pure talent Etheridge has as a guitar player and vocalist.
The highlight of the night was the song Etheridge wrote in response to the attack in Orlando earlier year. “Pulse,” named after the night club in which the attack happened, is a unifying song about how we can all come together as people to support each other. The lyrics “I am human,I am love. And my heart beats in my blood. Love will always win. Underneath the skin, everybody’s got a pulse” rang through the venue as concert goers joined in-singing along.
Etheridge closed her set with her best known songs “Come To My Window,” “I’m the Only One” and “The Way I Do.” The crowd was on their feet, enjoying the guitar solos and drum duet she effortlessly delivered.
